Information for Session Leaders
Session Leaders:
Thank you for agreeing to lead a session at the LP3 Conference. NTLP will need to collect some information from you so that we can prepare the conference materials and make sure your room is properly equipped.
Please submit the session leader form to NTLP by fax (817-377-8020 or 800-856-8020) or email (
)
no later than the date specified on the form.
To reduce paper waste, we will ask attendees to print their own handouts from the conference website. Unless you prefer to control access to your materials, please provide electronic files of whatever handouts will be needed for your session no later than the date specified on the session leader form.
See below for guidelines regarding handouts and time-length of your session.
Some Tips and Guidelines for Conference Session Leaders
Session Content
Attendees at our previous conferences have indicated a preference for “how-to” sessions whenever the topic lends itself to such. For example: a session on blogging would not only define blogs, but provide specific instructions or demonstration on creating a blog.
Green Policy Regarding Handouts
The North Texas Regional Conferences operate under a green policy. We ask that Session Leaders provide their handouts to us in advance, electronically, and then we will post the handouts on the Conference website. Participants may print, before the conference, any handouts for the sessions they play to attend.
Unless we receive the handouts by the deadline indicated on the Session Leader Information Form, there is no guarantee that we can have them posted before the conference. If you have handouts for your session but do not provide them to us by the deadline, please plan to provide those handouts yourself at the conference.
Handout Guidelines
No more than 1 MB in size or 6 pages per document, please
We prefer handouts in PDF format. If you give us a Word Document or PowerPoint presentation (PPT file), we will convert it to PDF ourselves, making our own decisions about formatting options.
If you are providing a PowerPoint presentation as a handout, please be sure that text is large enough to be legible when printed with multiple slides per page. If you are producing the PDF file of your presentation, please verify that the text is legible in the multiple-slide format.
Please do not provide videos or slideshows (including PowerPoint PPS files) as handouts. If an attendee can’t print it out and bring it to the conference, it’s not a handout for our purposes. Feel free, however, to provide a document containing a link to a video or slideshow available elsewhere on the Internet. Although attendees may choose to skip printing that link out for the conference, they’ll know where to find it when they want it.
Presentation Length versus Session Length
Although presentations are scheduled in one-hour blocks, we ask that your presentation be limited to 45 minutes, including Q&A time in order to allow for late starts and participants who wish to visit with the session leader individually after the presentation. Please remember that the session leader after you will need to be able to set up and check equipment during the very brief break between sessions.
